Spinalonga island

Spinalonga island

We continue our trip to visit Spinalonga island !

It’s a picturesque spot, the views whether from inside the fortified citadel, or at the ramparts, are quite breathtaking. Fun fact, it is known as the Leper island… people who contracted that disease in Crete, even Greece, would be sent here to live away from the rest of the population. It’s pretty now, even if it’s in ruins, but you can definitely feel some bad, lonely and desperate vibes.

By the way, don’t pay attention to my boyfriend’s outfit (the green shorts… you will get familiar with those in the next posts); he’s the type of guy to pack one or two pants when going on vacay at the beach, because he believes we don’t need clothes for that sort of trip. Whereas I’m over here changing outfits daily 😂

Na eiste kala !

Na eiste kala !

Three years ago we completely fell in love with this island 🤍 🇬🇷

And we’ve been back every year since ! So this is our third… we’re still obsessed with Crete, and the Cretan people are some of the nicest, most generous we’ve met through our different travels. We just love their vibe !

The first thing we do upon arrival at the airport, is get our car and start the road trip right away. We drive fast, until a beautiful little beach, or cove catches our sight, and we make our stop there : take off all of our airplane clothes, and jump in the sea 🌊

Trust me, it is the best feeling ever. Since we travel there in August / September, the water is so warm, you don’t even have to wait for your skin to get adjusted. It’s the perfect temperature. After that first little (or longer) swim, we go for lunch… and oh my gosh, how nice it is to have a proper Greek salad, with dakos ! Cretans offer some dessert or fruit when you ask for the bill, and a little digestive; ouzo and raki are the most common ones.

The feeling of being wholly disconnected from our stressful Parisian lives, barely an hour after landing… and the freedom the car gets us is unmatchable. It’s just smiles & adventures now, for two weeks ☀️

Does anyone else take 3-5 business days to put their laundry away or is it just me

Does anyone else take 3-5 business days to put their laundry away or is it just me

Cherry picking is probably my favorite activity, after laying in the sun and reading. I love that my Grandma planted a bunch of cherry trees, and that now we get so many of them every year. They’re so full of juice, and better eaten fresh, right after being picked. Oh how I love my summers in Serbia ❤️

If you’re so smart then riddle me tits

Sunsets are magic happening ☀️

If you're so smart then riddle me tits

Seeing the sun disappear in the endless water surrounding us on this little island that Crete is, was such a beautiful experience. The colors were fantastic and I wished for that moment to never end, which is why I immortalised it on camera. So I can have the souvenir of that feeling, of that perfect evening with my love, forever.

My toxic trait is buying whatever I want when I’ve had a bad day

My toxic trait is buying whatever I want when I've had a bad day

My boyfriend takes wonderful portraits of me ! Props to him 💞

We’re here in Heraklion, Crete. On our way to the Rocca a Mare Fortress. We were supposed to reach the light house by sunset, but didn’t manage… it is quite a long road over the sea, about two km on foot. And we had many stops because the views were absolutely fantastic. Next time, we’ll go until the end of it ! #BucketList ✨
