Took a short walk in Svilajnac, it’s the city closest to where my grandma lives.
It’s super cute there… they redid the Main Street, added a fountain. This was filmed an early weekday morning, so it was quite empty, just how I like it. Warm, sunny and chill.
I’ve been less and less into blogging lately, for various reasons…
As you know I’m taking online classes, that I started a while back, and I have to finish them pretty soon, as I have a deadline for my certificate… so there’s that.
Then, I need to finish up my boyfriend’s website, and then my own ! I’ll let you know more on that stuff soon-ish.
Don’t know if y’all remember, but I re-opened my photo store via 500px recently…here it is !
Because they had changed their payouts rules in favor to the photographer; but they’re so complicated, they barely accept any picture for licensing. It has to be super basic, something they for sure know it would sell, or shot with a real high quality camera. So I’ve been struggling to get myself at over 20… and it’s not even my fave pictures.
That’s just not how I like to shoot, plus I don’t care about the quality so much, I’m more into this film-like aesthetic that I have going on, which fits me perfectly. Besides, I’m a hobbyist photographer, I ain’t gonna drop a large sum of money on a high end camera, when my iPhone already gives me incredible shots.
Anyway. I’m gonna have to move my sales to another platform ! I’m keeping 500px for sure, and I’ll update it as usual, but I need something where I can pick and choose what I want for sale, and have better options for myself. I guess I’m gonna be spending my next few days (and not weeks hopefully) at this research and make. 🧿 We’ll see what I come up with, xoxox.
It’s a picturesque spot, the views whether from inside the fortified citadel, or at the ramparts, are quite breathtaking. Fun fact, it is known as the Leper island… people who contracted that disease in Crete, even Greece, would be sent here to live away from the rest of the population. It’s pretty now, even if it’s in ruins, but you can definitely feel some bad, lonely and desperate vibes.
By the way, don’t pay attention to my boyfriend’s outfit (the green shorts… you will get familiar with those in the next posts); he’s the type of guy to pack one or two pants when going on vacay at the beach, because he believes we don’t need clothes for that sort of trip. Whereas I’m over here changing outfits daily 😂
Three years ago we completely fell in love with this island 🤍 🇬🇷
And we’ve been back every year since ! So this is our third… we’re still obsessed with Crete, and the Cretan people are some of the nicest, most generous we’ve met through our different travels. We just love their vibe !
The first thing we do upon arrival at the airport, is get our car and start the road trip right away. We drive fast, until a beautiful little beach, or cove catches our sight, and we make our stop there : take off all of our airplane clothes, and jump in the sea 🌊
Trust me, it is the best feeling ever. Since we travel there in August / September, the water is so warm, you don’t even have to wait for your skin to get adjusted. It’s the perfect temperature. After that first little (or longer) swim, we go for lunch… and oh my gosh, how nice it is to have a proper Greek salad, with dakos ! Cretans offer some dessert or fruit when you ask for the bill, and a little digestive; ouzo and raki are the most common ones.
The feeling of being wholly disconnected from our stressful Parisian lives, barely an hour after landing… and the freedom the car gets us is unmatchable. It’s just smiles & adventures now, for two weeks ☀️
