INTERVIEW : 10 QUESTIONS FOR MADISON KENNEDY

BY DAKOTA KENNEDY

I’ll be conducting interviews every months from now on, asking Madison some questions she receives by e-mail, and some others that I will come up with while I am interviewing her live. I am studying english, so my writing gets better. I hope you will like this new idea.

You’ve been blogging for 9 years now, what does that feel like ?

When I started my first blog I was only 16, and I thought “wow, this is really awesome”… I didn’t really think I’d pursue blogging this seriously, but it just became more than a hobby to me and I got addicted !

Blogging is more like a profession for you, isn’t it ?

Kind of… actually if you want an exclusive, I started my first online magazine last month (April 2015), it’s geek related and I’m publishing the articles on my blog so far, but soon it will be offered on the iBooks store.

Can you give us more details about it ?

Sure; you can expect to find a bundle of the first three issues, available as collector’s edition soon. I’ll link to it from my blog of course.

So you’re switching from blogger to editor-in-chief, is that correct to assume ?

Yes, and founder. I am the editor-in-chief and founder of Geekland magazine, and I plan on pursuing that vocation. Blogging has been a lot of fun, but it’s a congested industry to make a living from, and it lead me to become a starving artist basically.

You want to stop being a blogger and focus on your magazine; do you have any experience with journalism ?

That’s getting ahead of ourselves but yes, I arrived at that time of my life that is favorable to changes. I want to be able to work and provide for myself, and blogging isn’t sufficing me anymore. I have some background knowledge on journalism, my grandfather was a political journalist for ПОЛИТИКА, which is the oldest newspaper still circulating in the Balkans, and has a reputation for the stories its provided.

Your grandfather must be proud of you for pursuing a career in journalism, did you discuss this with him ?

I did, he is proud but says two things about this : for one, he saw this coming for a long time now. Second, he told me that the real reason why he was proud was not because I was fearless in pursuing my ambitions, but because I was mad enough to do so. He’s always said to me that he believed only mad men reached their goals. He watched me grow up, and the first time I sat on a computer and published a post online, he told himself by the look in my eyes, that I was gonna do more than that in the future. He just waited on me to cross the line between blogger to editor-in-chief, slowly blooming into that field.

Does your ambitions only concern your geek magazine ?

Not at all, that was just a first step for me, but I won’t say more about this topic. I am not the type of person to discuss without having anything to show.

How many languages do you speak ?

Merely three, English, French and Serbian. I’m also able to read and write in Cyrillic.

Where did you learn these languages ?

Well I have double citizenship from France and Serbia, and thus speak their languages as mother tongues. English I mastered after moving to Los Angeles.

What was the last book you read ?

I haven’t read any novel in a while, but I stay informed by reading the TIME, a news magazine here in the US.

Thank you for your time & answers Maddie – Meet me back on this blog in a month for another interview. If you want me to ask her some questions for the next interview, send them at : madisonkennedy@mail.com

NEXTGEN

NextGen

I wanted to love him, I remember wishing this with every bits of my body. I craved a feeling I wasn’t able to conceptualize rationally; to love somebody as much as in those great ancient tragedy novels I was so fond of. I knew the second this desire gave itself a birth in my mind, that it was wrong. We weren’t supposed to love this way. Somehow my brain disconnected from everything that used to tie me down to this oppressive system all of us humans were submitted to. How ugly was I… Although my body components were of multiple organic tissues and an endoskeleton was my supporting structure, it had been genetically modified in such matters, that I had nothing to do with those past authors whom I admired the literary work.

Technically, I was a robotic humanoid alternative concept, taking its external physical appearance from the human race population of a millennium ago… We, were. Designed by robots who aspired to look as their original creators, they made a hundred of us. They named us humans, but we aren’t, are we ? How could he ever love me back… The more I allowed myself into thinking this through, the further I was getting to a sense; as if the crave I felt was taking over rationality. I experienced this as an aching disorder. Could this be an error in my system, or was I meant to evolve from my primary form into something else, more than robotic and humanoid ? The next generation of people on earth.

To be continued… ?
