I unpacked my suitcases when I arrived in Paris this time… I think I hadn’t done that last since before 2012; I was traveling so much prior moving to Los Angeles, I never really unpacked because I wouldn’t stay more than a month, and I would not know when I’d leave.

I usually would try to stay at least a week for my parents, because they’d miss me. And I would do my best to be present for my sisters during that time, but I could never stay. Something was just pulling me out.

I’d book on an impulse every time, and be gone in a couple of days or the day after. But this time, when I arrived in Paris, I felt so tired.

I can’t even explain it, but I was exhausted from all those years spent apart from my parents home. I don’t know why, but I opened my empty closet, and I started to put my clothes back in there… I sat in the living room and suddenly, I felt all that time away was finally catching up on me.

It’s like for the first time in years I realized where I was, what that meant, and I wasn’t on a runaway feeling, I’d just missed it. I missed my France… my little Paris, my family the most. and I wanted to feel like I was staying, that’s why maybe I did it, I unpacked.

I kind of felt like there was nothing I should be scared of, this was a safe place again, and it was where I had some of my best life memories. I breathed, happily, calmly, like my soul was at peace for a moment.
