This is the first time my boyfriend is visiting my ancestors home country with me ! First pit stop of course, is the capital, Belgrade which means white city in Serbian.
We had such a lovely night walking around the park of the Kalemegdan fortress. The view from up there, on the Danube river during sunset, was absolutely astonishing.
This is not far from Belgrade, in Serbia. It’s where I had some of the sweetest memories as a child. Every vacation that I got, I went to spend my days on this absolutely incredible hill, surrounded by so much nature and the Danube river at the bottom. Every moment of the day turns beautiful and magical there. I have the fondest souvenirs.
We’ve been here many times before… it’s the monastery of Manasija, it has become a point of pilgrimage for my family. We go there to light candles, pray and have a pious walk. It was founded by Despot Stefan Lazarević between 1406 and 1418, and there is still visible remains from that era.
One of my favorite places to go to when I’m in Serbia 🙂
This waterfall, near the Resava Cave, is a must see ! It’s truly beautiful and peaceful there. They have a traditional restaurant that serves amazing food… you gotta try it. &We just love going there as a family hangout, it’s always so much fun and we’ve had many delightful moments.
I am of orthodox confession, and I love visiting cute little monasteries in Serbia. There is so many of them to see, and they are each beautiful in their own way. This one was very colorful and surrounded by an amazing garden.
